2011 World Series Champions - The Saint Louis Cardinals!

"Go crazy, folks! Go crazy! That's a winner."
-Jack Buck

Thanks to my photographer hubby, this is the beautiful night sky across the lake in New Town.  Which is where my hubby and I were during the best baseball game in history, Game 6 of this year's World Series.  It was INCREDIBLE.  A memory we will treasure forever.

The following night we took the whole family, Brutus included, over to the Knickmeyer's house to watch Game 7.  We were, for the first time, not so nervous about how it would turn out.  The Cardinals had proven themselves to be a historically talented and driven team.  After their miraculous comeback in August, their battle for the Wild Card and their tough fight for the NLSC, we new this season was going to be special.  And this night was the night, their last win of the season.  AND THEY DID IT!

In 2006 when they won, I was in college watching the final game in the dorm's big screen room.  I was preparing for a Halloween party.  This time, I have everything I have ever dreamed of in a husband, a family, and a dog.  I already am blessed with so much that this win seemed too much.

But they did win and it was amazing.  I prayed for it.  I asked for the win as a gift for my husband, but I didn't expect it to happen.  It was an inspirational post-season.

One that proved that the St. Louis Cardinals are not just some baseball team that wins a lot and has a few great players, but a group of amazing men who have the heart and passion for the game that we as Americans hold as one of our favorite past-times.

There were the All-Stars: Pujols, Berkman, Molina, Carpenter...

There were the unexpected stars: Freese, Craig...

And then there was the coach.  A man who has coached the Cardinals since I was old enough to even know what baseball was.  A man who made some crazy choices that ended up being genius decisions.  A man who will always be remembered as one of the great Cardinals coaches.  Tony LaRussa.

It was an amazing October.

And Cardinals Nation has proven its loyalty and love for their team.

Well done, boys.  Well done.

2011 seems to be quite the year for us.  We added a member to our family, Brutus.  He was there cheering on the Cardinals too.  Even though the celebratory fireworks were a little much for our little guy, he loved every minute of the post-season too.  And we will certainly never forget the year we brought him home, he's our Cardinals boy for life.

Thank you Cardinals for an incredible year.  For now, rest well...we'll see you next year!
