The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together.

What a busy week! Every week seems full of fun activities, but when you have a new puppy and a great family that seems to be how it goes. This weekend Tracy & Stuart came in town for Memorial Day weekend and go to meet little Brutus! We brought him over to Grandmama & Opa's for their annual BBQ and he had so much fun meeting his Great Aunt & Uncle and playing outside with Buffy.
All that playtime certainly tired him out, though, for he was a very sleepy boy during dinner. He even got to have his own rug to sleep on behind his Great Uncle Tommy. Mommy and Daddy were close by, but he didn't seem to mind snuggling up.
The BBQ was delicious! (Thanks Opa..) We had a wonderful time eating, drinking, and catching up on the family gossip and events.
Everyone was involved in the conversation, look at my husband he's getting into it, and we had a ball. Going over to Grandmama & Opa's for family dinners is a part of my life I cannot do without. The house is gorgeous, the food is always delicious, and the love and joy I feel when I am there. A memory I will always cherish. I hope that when the time comes, I can provide the same atmosphere for my children and grandchildren.
The Doctors were at it again. It is heartwarming how close they are as Father and Son.
Then it was time for some down-time at home on the couch. Brutus loves cuddling with Daddy.
Kevin and Tiffany were gracious enough to give us their late pup Max's crate for when he gets to be all grown-up. He obviously likes it. We put his fluffy bed in there so he gets used to it on his own. He is not big enough to sleep in it yet...it won't be long though:)
Friday night was eventful! Aaron's sister Jill and her daughter Jordan came over for a sleepover and some pool time the next day. Jordan announced to Jill "Look mommy, I'm not shy anymore!" after they had been at our house for a while and from the looks of the picture above, she certainly isn't.
She had fun trying out Uncle Aaron's shoes!
She even helped me cook lunch the next morning! We had so much fun having them over and Brutus adores having another "puppy" around to play with. He loves following Jordan around and Jordan loves to be his mini-trainer. They are very cute together.
Even Jill fell in love with him. He snuggled with her in the morning. It's true, once he sleeps on you, it's hard to resist his charms and you just have to fall in love.
Aaron's mom came over to meet her grand-puppy and Baby Charlotte tagged along. They both thought he was cute. Baby Charlotte was quite curious and spent some time petting him. Adorable?
Then it was pool time! We took Jordan to the kid pool first and she splashed with Uncle Aaron and Mommy. She LOVES water! She got right in and started playing.
I think the other little girls were jealous of her stylish bikini.
And her Hello Kitty sunglasses.
Shire Lane Pool, the New Town pool club, is wonderful and we are so happy to have a place to swim, relax, and take our family and friends when they come to visit. You can soak up the sun (carefully though, I got burnt pretty bad this last time we went)...
Or float around the lazy river and just relax. We always spend lots of time in the lazy river and Jordan enjoyed it too. She and Uncle Aaron splashed, swam, and even ran from pretend sharks. We had a blast!
Saturday evening was Youth Mass. Aaron and I always feel guilty leaving our little pup alone, but with the heat he is exhausted after 20 minutes of playtime. He was even in some New Town wedding photos before we left for church. He is a celebrity:)
After church, my parents took us all out to eat (including Tad's girlfriend Veronica who is in town for the weekend) to Joe's Crab Shack. It was Aaron's first time and he was pleasantly surprised as a non-seafood lover, to discover their crab cakes were pretty yummy. It was a great family dinner and I even got up to do the Macarena in an effort to make Tad laugh. I think that by embarrassing myself I entertained the table.
Sunday is a lazy day around the Weir household and we are enjoying every minute of it. Next Sunday just happens to be a very special day for my Mister and I as we are celebrating our 1st Wedding Anniversary. Just a year ago we became husband and wife on June 12th. Remembering and celebrating the best day of my life thus far is sure to be special. Aaron has the day planned (it's a surprise) and I have a few tricks up my sleeve as well. I am excited to look back on all the wonderful memories we made that day and during the past year of our marriage.
